Marianne Kelly President and Founder
Image Recovery Center®
Marianne J. Kelly founded the original hospital-based Image Recovery Centers® program in 1993 at The Union Memorial Hospital. Since that time thousands of cancer patients have been treated by the staff of Image Recovery Centers®. She has been recognized throughout the state as an expert in self esteem rehabilitation through image enhancement. Marianne is a certified image consultant with specialized training in makeup application, color analysis and wardrobe planning, a licensed professional hair designer certified in clinical cosmetology, and a certified breast fitter. As a young child Marianne witnessed the horror of losing a sibling to leukemia. In 1976 cancer struck again when her daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. In 1987 Marianne herself was diagnosed with a brain tumor and suffered the physical devastation of brain surgery. She has combined these real life experiences with her aesthetic expertise to provide the most comprehensive image rehabilitation program for the cancer patient. In 1996, Marianne was the recipient of the Governor's award for health care volunteerism for her dedication and commitment to the development of The Image Recovery Centers®. In 1995, Mrs. Kelly received the J.C. Penny Golden Rule award and was recognized by the American Hospital Association for the program that she founded. She has been seen on WJZ TV's Health Watch and was featured in the Baltimore Sun for the originality and success of this much needed service. She has been invited by numerous medical facilities and organizations to address the often overlooked physical needs of patients. In the past she has served as a board member of the Children's Cancer Foundation and is currently a member of the JHH Pediatric Oncology Friends organization that raises funds to support children with cancer at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
